Presale starts today!
There is no joy quite like saving money. But what if you could save money and give the gift of Japan? What’s more, what if you could save money, give the gift of Japan, and receive the gift of Japan? You can do just that by pre-ordering your badge for Nadeshicon for the low price of $30!
Dubious logic aside, pre-ordering your weekend badge for Nadeshicon now until February 15th does get you a very real $10 discount on the price at the door and on presale past that date! Head over to the presale section to benefit from it!
The poster drawing contest is now live!
This year’s theme for the contest is sports! Since the 2020 Olympics will be held in Tokyo, we thought we’d take this opportunity to highlight this aspect of both japanese culture and anime. Often used as a vehicle for thoughts and emotions, the sports anime genre is home to some of the best drama in fiction, and is very much worth celebrating!
Alright, enough of that, back to business talk. Here is the very, very short version of the contest:
Prizes
- 1st place – Two (2) artist tables or their cash value, to choose from.
- 2nd place – One (1) artist table or its cash value, to choose from.

We want you to host a panel!
A specific anime has you head over heels and you need to find other fans to discuss it with? You’ve been cosplaying for as long as you can remember and have a few neat tricks under your hat you wish to share around? Or maybe you’re one to set passions ablaze and want to “discuss” the best idol group of the decade?
Now is your chance! Fill the panel form now and get your entrance fee back!
Only a few days left before artist tables reservations close!
You have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 to submit your form and enter the drawing! If this were Termina, you would now see a giant DUSK OF THE FIRST DAY on the screen, with “54 hours remain” written under it. Thankfully, the moon isn’t crashing down, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hurry!
Registrations for the Dealers’ Room are now open!
Sink your teeth into this meaty contract, fresh out of the oven! Whether you’re an artist or a merchant, make sure you read over it meticulously, as several changes were made to it.
The selection process remains unchanged from the last few years. Merchants, you will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Artists, you have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 8th to submit your form. We will then proceed to draw the spaces using a lotery system and contact everyone who submitted, both those selected and those who weren’t as lucky. For more information concerning the lotery system, please refer to the Merchants and Artists Form, as well as the Contract for merchands, artists and exhibitors.
This way to the form and the contract!
Librairie Morency’s Japanese Festival 2019 is this Saturday!
One of Québec City’s precious independent libraries, Librairie Morency could easily be mistaken for a treasure chest full of wonders at first glance; priding itself on its audacity, it goes above and beyond to make every aspect of literature shine. “Ordinary” simply doesn’t exist in their dictionary.
It should then come as no surprise that, despite being the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan is for a second year in a row getting the spotlight this Saturday in a festival covering many of the aspects that make its culture so captivating! Many amazing guests will be on site, some of which have yet to give our hearts back (honestly, it’s fine if they keep them; they deserve them). You may thus find Martin Savard performing Rakugo at 1pm and 2pm, Nunumi signing copies of her comic, A Ticket to Nowhere, and Valérie Harvey presenting her books and talking about her experience in Kyōto.
Cosplayers, don’t fret! Librairie Morency will be hosting a costume contest on the theme of Japan with none other than Nienna Surion, one of our two canadian representatives for WCS 2020! Register now for the contest by sending the library a PM on their Facebook page, by calling them, or by registering on-site! Our scouts have also heard rumors of prizes for the contest~
See you this Saturday on Limoilou’s 3rd avenue! Oh, and one more thing: it’s free!
Québec City Comiccon is this weekend!
Annual gathering of Québec City’s geek community, Québec City Comiccon will this year be receiving one of the actors who starred in the original Star Wars trilogy, Billy Dee Williams! You will also be able to participate in various activities, including video games, LARPing, and of course the masquerade!
Those are however but the tip of the iceberg. To find out the full list of activities and guests, head to Québec City Comiccon’s website.
You may also spot Nadeshiko and Saito in the exhibit hall, more specifically at booth 2308. Come say hi!
