Nadeshicon 2016 is now over

And so ends Nadeshicon 2016. The closing ceremony is starting as we speak in Salle Hydro-Québec, after which we will be heading to panel A to hear your comments about our event, as well as your suggestions.
We would like to thank all of you who attended this year’s edition of our convention, and hope you had as much fun as we did throughout the weekend! See you hopefully on March 31st, April 1st and 2nd 2017!

Only 20 minutes left before the last day of Nadeshicon 2016!

This morning starts off calmly with the tea ceremony in panel A, then quickly picks up in speed with our guest of honour’s, Aimee Blackschleger’s, third and last show are this edition of our event. It will then be followed by an amazing shamisen performance given by Ryoko Itabashi, and an autograph session with our guest of honour, in Salle Hydro-Québec and the atrium, respectively. Enjoy!

Dusk of the second day

The second day of the convention is now officially over! Quite the busy day, with a wide array of activities; we hope you enjoyed yourself to the max!
The last day of the event is upon us and, with it, the last show of our guest of honour, Aimee Blackschleger, for this edition of our festival. Of course, plenty of other amazing activities will be held, so be sure to be on the lookout. See you tomorrow!

A mistake in the programme

It would seem we had a little hiccup when we wrote down the programme; as such, it won’t be The Association of Chadô Urasenke Tankôkai of Quebec giving the calligraphy panel at 1pm on Sunday, but Tomoko Kurokawa. Please note however that the Tea Ceremony panel will still be hosted by the Association. We apologize for the mistake.

Association de Chado Urasenke Tankokai

Hello Everyone,

The Association de Chado Urasenke Tankokai de Québec will be there to show you a Tea Ceremony.

Our association has been a member of Tankokai, a non-profit organization from Kyoto in Japan, since June 2011, and our mission is to show and share the Way of Tea (chado).
The Way of Tea
Worldwide, tea is very popular, but there’s no country with as much cultural richness as Japan when it comes to it. In Japan, the way a cup of tea is prepared as been especially refined through cultural and aesthetic development. Many masters contributed to Japan’s cultural development thanks to the Chado (the Way of Tea). Among them, Sen Rikyu (1522-1591) accomplished a synthesis of the different ways to drink tea, with a brilliant aesthetic and a remarkable devotion to the achievement of the Chado. The Chado is designed as a lifestyle, resulting in a real work of art, contributing to the artisanal development of Japan, but also developing the day-to-day life. Now that modern progress and mechanization save men from doing the toughest tasks, the time and the energy required for the preparation of a cup of tea might seem useless. But a cup of tea prepared following the Chado principles is a ritual destined to restore its inner tranquility, a basic need of the human being. This is a ritual of simplicity and sobriety in which everyone can find “inner peace in a cup of tea”.
